Muay Thai

Hand boxing, as it is known in Thailand, incorporates the hands, shins, elbows and knees as weapons to execute strikes and stand-up grappling. Almost all techniques in Muay Thai emphasize use of the entire body, rotating the hip with each kick, punch and block. This puts intense focus on core abdominal muscles, setting it apart from other martial arts.

Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu focuses on grappling and ground fighting. Using leverage, joint-lock and chokehold techniques, fighters work to force their opponents into submission. Popularized in the 1990s when Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert Royce Gracie rose in the UFC ranks using this technique on larger opponents, this martial art utilizes strategy, maneuvering, counter-maneuvering and manipulation to achieve victory.

Taekwondo

Combining combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise and philosophy, Taekwondo is among the world's most popular martial arts in sheer number of practitioners. It is an Olympic sport and features an emphasis on kicking techniques. For conditioning, it improves strength, speed, balance, flexibility and stamina.

Krav Maga

Hand-to-hand combat based on instinctive movements and simple principles, Krav Maga offers a fighting technique proven in the Israeli Defense Forces, the Israeli National and Military Police and the Israeli Special Operations and Security units. Its creator combined his backgrounds in boxing, wrestling and gymnastics to develop this method of close quarters combat. Translated from the Hebrew, Krav Maga means "close combat" or "contact combat."

Women's Kickboxing

Practical kickboxing incorporates boxing-style punches and Taekwondo and Muay Thai-style kicks for self-defense, fitness or full-contact sport. Whether pursuing it for competition, fitness or self-defense, kickboxing provides an introduction to martial arts or a foundation to pursuing other disciplines.

Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed martial arts is a full combat sport utilizing hybrids of several martial arts styles - including striking and grappling, standing and on the ground. With parts boxing, wrestling and martial arts, fighters study a variety of techniques to increase their arsenal of tactics and moves.
